3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Pineda (finger) is not expected to need surgery to fix his fractured right middle finger, according to skipper A.J. Hinch. Pineda will be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks. The veteran right-hander will likely be out for over a month, but Hinch said the team is optimistic that Pineda won't miss multiple months. The 33-year-old was off to a great start for Detroit before the injury, posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 12:4 K:BB in five starts covering 22 1/3 innings pitched. If you have the room, Pineda is certainly worth stashing. With Matt Manning (shoulder) and Casey Mize (elbow) also sidelined, right-handed pitching prospect Alex Faedo could remain in the starting rotation for the time being.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
