BALLER MOVE: Add in 15+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 3% of leagues
ANALYSIS: If you follow my takes, you know I love college lefties from schools like Dallas Baptist, niche relievers, and late-round draft picks. 28-year-old Tampa Bay RP Colin Poche satisfies all of the above criteria. The Columbus, Ohio native was a 14th-round selection in 2016 and exceeded rookie status back in 2019, but Tommy John surgery has kept him out from then until this year.
In 15.0 IP this season with the notoriously versatile Rays' bullpen, Poche holds a fantastic 1.20 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with seven holds and two saves; and though he has allowed two HR with only 12 K in that time, he has held opponents to drawing only three walks. He has also held opponents to a mere 5.4% XBH rate off of an 84.8% average exit velocity and just 19.5% hard contact on batted balls, making very efficient use of his fastball-slider combo. The Rays sit at second place in the AL East with a 27-19 record, and even among a great class of relief arms, Poche has outperformed every teammate except for righty Jason Adam. Being on a tear with a team that will provide plenty of chances for saves/holds, Colin Poche should be on Fantasy Manager radars for those in deeper formats.
