3 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Amir Garrett will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday. The 30-year-old left-hander has been on the COVID-19 injured list since late May. He's struggled thus far in his first season in a Royals jersey. Over 16 appearances, he has a 4.61 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. His velocity has been down a bit from last season. In 2021, he averaged 85.2 mph on his slider. This year, he's averaging 84.1 mph on the pitch. Meanwhile, the average velocity on his four-seamer is down from 94.8 mph in 2021 to 93.7 mph this year.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
