2 years agoThe Cleveland Guardians placed catcher Austin Hedges on the seven-day concussion injured list on Tuesday and acquired catcher Sandy Leon from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for cash. Anthony Castro has also been recalled from Triple-A, and Konnor Pilkington has been called up as the 27th man for a doubleheader on Tuesday. Ian Gibaut was designated for assignment to make room for Leon on the roster. Hedges has been the team's primary catcher this year, but he's hitting just .160/.223/.271 with five home runs and 15 RBI over 144 at-bats. Luke Maile is likely to serve as the starting catcher while Hedges is out, with Leon providing depth in the short term. Leon hasn't played in a major league game yet in 2022, and he was hitting .222/.321/.306 with a homer and seven RBI in 26 games for Triple-A Louisville.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
