Tyler Stephenson Starting Rehab Assignment Monday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (thumb) is starting his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Stephenson suffered a broken thumb on June 9, but barring any setbacks on his rehab assignment, he should be able to return as the Reds' everyday catcher just before the All-Star break in mid-July. The 25-year-old is one of the best hitting catchers in the big leagues when healthy, so he should remain stashed in all fantasy leagues. Before breaking his thumb, he was slashing .305/.361/.468 with an .829 OPS, five home runs, 31 RBI, 21 runs scored and one stolen base in 155 plate appearances over 42 games. Michael Papierski and Aramis Garcia will continue splitting the catching duties in Cincy until Stephenson is back.
