2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol's patience is running thin with starting pitcher Dakota Hudson after Hudson allowed six runs on nine hits while walking three and striking out two in four innings in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves. "This is the big leagues, and it's about performance; this isn't a tryout," Marmol said. Hudson's inability to limit walks while regularly falling behind in counts has hurt him this year, as he's now sporting a 4.29 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with only 46 strikeouts and a league-high 39 free passes issued in 84 innings over his 16 starts. Steven Matz (shoulder) is still two rehab starts away from returning to the rotation, but when he's ready, he could slot into Hudson's spot if he continues to struggle.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
