3 years agoThe Colorado Rockies designated infielder Colton Welker for assignment on Wednesday. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Wednesday's starting pitcher, Jose Urena. The 24-year-old had been ranked as one of the team's top prospects while playing in the low minor leagues, but he's been unable to produce in either the high minors or the majors in recent years while also struggling with injuries.
