2 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Gabriel Moreno was optioned back to Triple-A on Tuesday to clear a roster spot for fellow catcher Danny Jansen. Moreno saw his first exposure to the big leagues over the last month and the results were mostly good on the offensive front. Over 18 games, he slashed .276/.300/.293 while maintaining a fantastic 11.7% strikeout rate. The 22-year-old is ranked as the sixth overall prospect in the majors by MLB Pipeline. The biggest question for him is what kind of power he can offer at the plate. He slugged .626 over 37 games spread across multiple minor league levels last year, but he has just a .404 slugging percentage at Triple-A this year. Meanwhile, another problem for Moreno is that the team currently has two solid catching options on its MLB roster right now in Jansen and Alejandro Kirk. Jansen's been great when healthy this year and Kirk is in the midst of a breakout season with an .878 OPS over 78 games.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
