2 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso helped the team rout the Chicago Cubs 8-0 on Thursday. He went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the game. He was also hit by a pitch. Alonso now has 24 home runs on the year, which has him tied for fifth in the majors. He also leads the league with 74 RBI. The 27-year-old is currently pairing a career-low ground-ball rate (35.5%) with career-highs in line-drive rate (20.7%) and average launch angle (18.8 degrees). Meanwhile, he's slugging .527, but he has a career-best xSLG of .557. Expect to see plenty more home runs from Alonso over the second half of the year.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
