2 years agoCleveland Guardians shortstop Andres Gimenez (foot) was removed from Saturday's game against the Detroit Tigers due to a foot injury. He was hit by a pitch in his foot during the bottom of the fourth inning of the game. He initially remained in the game to run the bases, but was lifted in favor of Ernie Clement in the top of the fifth. It's unclear whether his removal was precautionary or not at this point. The Guardians built a 10-0 lead prior to his removal so the team may have just wanted to avoid taking any chances with the 23-year-old, who is slated to appear in his first All-Star game next week.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
