2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Steven Matz (ankle) exited Saturday's start against the Cincinnati Reds early after he rolled his right ankle during the sixth inning. He rolled his ankle while trying to field a ball at first base. The 31-year-old made his first start Saturday for the first time since being placed on the injured list on May 22. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven across 5 2/3 innings before leaving. Matz is considered day-to-day and will undergo further evaluation after the game. It is unclear if Matz will be able to make his next start on Thursday against the Washington Nationals.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
