2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Steven Matz (knee) is unlikely to return this season even if he avoids surgery. The 31-year-old has a torn MCL in his left knee, and the Cardinals should know more next Tuesday if the right-hander will return in 2022. St. Louis will be in the market to add another arm by the MLB trade deadline. "There might be some opportunities out there that might not be top of the rotation but can fill innings," said Cardinals baseball operations president John Mozeliak.
