Miguel Cabrera Taking The Day Off Friday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman/designated hitter Miguel Cabrera (knee) is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Cabrera is battling a bum knee right now and is expected to start every other game for at least the next week. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer is nearing the end of the road and is hitting just .268/.317/.332 with four home runs, 36 RBI, 23 runs scored and a stolen base in 325 at-bats for Detroit. With Miggy on the bench, Victor Reyes is serving as the designated hitter and will bat second on Friday against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. Reyes is hitting only .229 (8-for-35) with three RBI in 10 games over the last two weeks, and he has just one home run on the season in 48 games played.
