ANALYSIS: Another example of a player who had a subpar week and now heads into their bye week, Richard Rodgers still had five targets in an underwhelming effort against San Diego. He was only able to turn two of those five targets into receptions, stacking up 34 yards. In the past three weeks he has seen six, eight, and five targets. These aren’t any old targets either, these are Aaron Rodgers targets.
While one would feel a lot better if his last two weeks had a touchdown, the fact still stands that he is the only tight end that the Packers have right now, and Aaron Rodgers isn’t snubbing him. He has gotten love in the red zone. While Randall Cobb complains about drawing double teams and Eddie Lacy fails to make any sort of statement in 2015, it leaves the door open for other Packers to reap the benefits of an Aaron Rodgers’ led aerial assault. James Jones is clearly the biggest beneficiary so far, but Richard Rodgers has definitely been able to take steps forward in 2015 as well. With Andrew Quarless still on the shelf, Richard Rodgers’ opportunities going forward should still be good, and the rapport between the two Rodgers' should only continue to grow.
