How Jon Gray Can Be Great for You in 2016

Jon Gray has been the pitching prospect for the Rockies for a few years now, and he finally got a taste of the major leagues at the end of 2015. Just as Coors Field giveth to its hitters, it taketh away from its pitchers. He ended up with a 5.53 ERA and 1.62 WHIP, though his peripherals support a better player than that.

He still struck out 40 in 40.2 innings. His FIP was only 3.63 and his BABIP was an out of sight .384. Such is the life of a small sample size. You’re a savvy owner though, and you know that you can reverse platoon him. It’s not much, but in 20 innings away from Coors he posted a 2.70 ERA with a .216 batting average against and 25 Ks.

Those away starts came against good competition in the Mets, Pirates, Padres, and Dodgers. In deeper leagues where you can afford to roster Gray and get his road starts, it appears you're in line to be paid off handsomely for your efforts.
