Adam LaRoche isn’t dead yet! He’s close though. Entering his age-36 season, he needs to show that he deserves the at bats after a miserable 2015.
Known for being a second half player, many owners stuck with him through the horrible first half hoping for life in the warmer months. It never came. He ended the year with a .207 average and only 12 home runs while striking out at an absurd 27.5% clip. He offers no glove as the designated hitter, and if you can’t hit you won’t play. His track record is strong enough where he won’t be kicked to the curb, but they could turn to Mike Olt or outside help if he starts slow again.
It boils down to this: he either regains his swing, cuts down on the strikeouts and gets back to lifting the ball with purpose, or he doesn’t and is done as far as fantasy owners are concerned. The price tag should be very low and we know he has the swing in him to be a 25 home run bat.
