FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (6/8/17): MLB DFS Advice

This Thursday features a more traditional slate than usual as there are only three games on the afternoon slate. That makes tomorrow a prime day to play the all-day slate. The matchups also provide plenty of opportunities as there are plenty of quality pitchers but none at prohibitive prices. Finding a punt option or two will allow paying up for the prime offensive envirnoments for Thursdsay's slate. Given that, let's dig in.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 6/8/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options, and of course, value plays

Offensive Stacks

Seattle Mariners vs. Kyle Gibson

Gibson is an easy pitcher to pick on but the Mariners could see surprisingly low ownership in the all day slate due to their 10 P.M EST start. Gibson has been all about equality as he has gotten popped by both lefties and righties this season. That makes Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager fairly obvious plays but also invites cheaper options such as Mike Zunino and Taylor Motter.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Lance McCullers - P, @ KC ($9,700)

McCullers is walking under three batters per nine innings for the first time in his professional career, outside of 11 innings he threw in rookie ball in 2011. Suffice it to say, he’s taken a step forward and that has made him a stud across all fantasy games and formats. Of course, he’s still racking up plenty of strikeouts and his groundball rate continues to spike, sitting currently at nearly 62%. The matchup matches his excellent skills on Thursday as he draws the Royals who have just an 82 wRC+ for the season against righties, good (bad) for 27th in the league.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Tyler Flowers - C, PHI ($2,700)

Flowers continues to quietly rake while his matchup against Ben Lively is nothing to be scared of. He comes in at a moderate price, making him a nice catcher to pick out of the clump of mid-tier backstops. If you’re looking to pay up a bit more at the position, Alex Avila jumps out as a nice play for Thursday’s slate.

Wil Myers - 1B, @ ARI ($3,600)

Things rapidly deteriorated for Patrick Corbin in May as he posted a 9.00 ERA. Things haven’t gotten much better for him in June, so using Padres against him on Thursday is a strong play, even given the nature of their lineup. Myers has plenty of pop to take him deep and is on the correct side of a massive platoon split for Corbin.

Daniel Robertson - 2B, vs. CHW ($2,200)

Robertson is suddenly getting everyday playing time with the Rays and while he’s not exactly Mike Trout or J.D. Martinez, he has managed to hit left-handed pitching well for much of his major-league opportunity. Meanwhile, Derek Holland’s season-long charade of being a decent pitcher is starting to wear off, especially against right-handed hitters. He has allowed a whopping 43% hard contact to righties this season, so given all these factors, Robertson becomes an impressive value for Thursday’s slate.

Todd Frazier - 3B, @ TB ($3,200)

Jake Odorizzi doesn’t seem like an obvious target in Thursday’s slate, but flipping over to the other side of the Rays-White Sox game could be a nice contrarian move. Odorizzi has given up 2.6 HR/9 to opposing right-handed batters this season, second highest in the majors only to Ricky Nolasco. Meanwhile, Todd Frazier is slowly turning his season around, as he has a 1.033 OPS over the past week, making him a nice mid-priced option at the position.

Taylor Motter - SS, vs. MIN ($2,900)

Just when the fantasy community was ready to bury Taylor Motter he has turned it on again with four straight double-digit point performances on FanDuel. We saw Motter put together a similar stretch to start the season and Kyle Gibson has surrendered a .923 OPS to right-handed hitters this season. Motter isn’t a centerpiece of this team but provides enough savings to pay up elsewhere and could return plenty of value.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Hunter Renfroe - OF, @ ARI ($3,400)

Renfroe has a great matchup for all the reasons suggested with Wil Myers. His personal performance also suggests he is a strong play as he has positive splits both away from Petco Park and against left-handed pitching.

Max Kepler - OF @ SEA ($3,600)

Christian Bergman has held his own to this point in the season but Max Kepler continues to be a player who isn’t getting enough attention. He has a 41.7% hard contact rate against right-handed pitching and is hitting the ball on the ground just 35% of the time. That translates to a lot of hard contact driven in the air and plenty of fantasy production.

Gregory Polanco - OF vs. MIL ($3,200)

Polanco has been a big disappointment this season but lefties against Edinson Volquez should always be given a second look. Volquez has walked 13.4% of left-handed batters faced illustrating that he has little control of the strike zone when facing them. That has translated to a 4.93 xFIP against lefties, and while Polanco needs a jump start, Volquez could be the pitcher to provide it
