Tyler Johnson Goes Down With Injury Monday, X-Rays Negative
7 years agoMiami Heat guard Tyler Johnson (ankle) went down hard in the third quarter of Monday's loss against the Chicago Bulls and had to be carried off the court. After the game, it was revealed Johnson's X-rays came back negative, and he was diagnosed with a sprained ankle. Backup shooting guard Wayne Ellington immediately picked up where Johnson left off, scoring 20 points, including 5-for-11 from three-point range in 33 minutes. Miami already lost guard Dion Waiters (ankle) to season-ending surgery on his ankle but appear to have avoided the worst with Johnson. When Johnson has sat out, forward Derrick Jones has moved into the starting lineup, but Ellington would be the better pickup and a great option for threes.
