7 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Austin Hedges homered in his first spring training at-bat on Sunday but was equally excited about a walk he took later in the game. The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee reports the San Diego backstop worked on a more fluid swing and patience during the offseason to cut back on chasing pitches. Despite 18 home runs in 2017, Hedges hit only .214 and struck out in 29.4 percent of his at-bats. Improved plate discipline would help Hedges' fantasy stock at a thin position. Better plate appearances could make Hedges a worthy late-round flyer for owners waiting on the position.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
