7 years agoJustin Thomas played incredible golf and got one lucky break to capture the Honda Classic in a playoff over Luke List. Thomas led the field in driving distance, sand saves, scrambling and strokes gained tee to green. Still, if not for a great break on the par-three fifth, he may never have been in the playoff despite his great play. His tee shot on the 178-yard hole came up short and hit the rocks that surrounded the water, but his ball fortuitously bounced forward and rolled just past the hole, stopping a few feet away. Using that break and fantastic golf, Thomas was able to outlast List in a one-hole playoff when he made a birdie on the par-five 18th. Thomas plays again this week in Mexico City and has to be considered one of the favorites.--cmangano
