Jonathon Simmons Leads Magic In Scoring
7 years agoOrlando Magic guard/forward Jonathan Simmons continued to take advantage of the absence of Evan Fournier (knee) and Aaron Gordon (concussion), finishing the night with 24 points against the Clippers. Simmons shot 7-for-13 from the field, 2-for-3 from deep and was an accurate 8-for-10 from the charity stripe. He also contributed seven assists and was sound defensively by swiping away a few steals. Simmons has seen a noticeable increase in production since the aforementioned Gordon and Fournier went down with their respective injuries and has taken a total of 28 shots from the floor over the past few games in addition to scoring 49 points over that same span, which are both well above his season averages. Expect this type of production to continue with a slight decrease upon the return of Gordon, which may come as soon as Tuesday night when the team squares off with the San Antonio Spurs.
