BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 53% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Fernando Romero has been very impressive through his first two MLB starts, going 2-0 in 11.2 scoreless innings with 14 K against the Blue Jays and the Cardinals. Control has always been a concern for the 68th-ranked overall prospect, and although he has registered six BB, most of his peripheral statistics indicate a potential elite SP (10.8 K/9, 29.8% K%, .179 OPP BA, 1.11 WHIP, 2.86 FIP). Romero's fastball regularly reaches the mid-to-high-90s (with movement), and he also has an effective high-80's slider. He hasn't yet allowed a HR, and his GB/FB Ratio sits at an appealing 3.50.
If he's available in your league, scoop him up while you still can. He possesses enough upside to warrant adding in all formats and could be a waiver wire gem. The 23-year-old right-hander will look to keep it rolling in his next scheduled start, on the road against the potent Los Angeles Angels lineup.
