Streaming Wars - Waiver Wire Targets for May 13

1. Don't Forget

Call your mom on Sunday! It's literally the least you can do. If you're spending some time with her or taking her out, even better.

2. Today's Weather and Updates - Saturday, May 12

We're likely to see at least one rainout, and possibly several. Mets-Phillies, Giants-Pirates, and Braves-Marlins all have a better than 50% chance of thunderstorms. Athletics-Yankees, White Sox-Cubs, and Rays-Orioles may also be impacted by wet weather.

3. Streamer Picks - Sunday, May 13

Pitchers to Use

Sunday's slate is a mix of aces and fifth starters, so the streaming options are pretty terrible. Ivan Nova is the best of the bunch, and he's allowed 10 runs over his last two starts. He will be at home and facing a relatively punchless Giants lineup, at least.

Other Targets: Drew Pomeranz, and maybe whoever takes the ball for the Cardinals or Blue Jays?

Pitchers to Exploit

The corollary to there being basically no good streaming targets is, of course, a bonanza of arms to exploit. Dylan Bundy is coming off one of the worst performances in MLB history and has allowed nine home runs and 19 runs in his last nine innings. The Rays aren't a scary matchup, but something clearly isn't right with Bundy at the moment.

Lots of other fringy arms with crooked ERAs taking the hill. Matt Moore against the Astros and Brett Anderson against the Yankees look particularly vulnerable to a rough night.

Homers on the Wire

C.J. Cron is an obvious choice, given Bundy's recent issues. The Rays' first baseman is hitting .301 with six homers and 18 RBI over the past month, yet remains unowned in seven out of every 10 leagues.

Steals on the Wire

Mallex Smith continues to perform well at the plate, with a .326 AVG and .407 OBP giving him plenty of opportunities to run. He's only 8-for-12, but then again only seven players have successfully swiped more bags than him.

Skill Positions

Jorge Alfaro's overall numbers aren't impressive, but three of his four homers have come in the past two weeks, during which he's hit .278.

Tyler Clippard got the first save since Roberto Osuna was placed on administrative leave following his arrest for assault. There's no shortage of viable candidates in the Blue Jays' bullpen, so don't be surprised if it ends up being a true committee. Clippard's shoddy control and vulnerability to the long ball remain significant hurdles for his long-term success.
