6 years agoTexas Rangers first baseman/outfielder Joey Gallo may play some center field in 2018. Gallo has played there previously, but it is unlikely to be a regular part of the plan. Normal center fielder Delino DeShields has had just one game off since returning from the disabled list. However, he is in a major slump with just 13 hits in his last 21 games (82 at-bats) and is hitting just .193 against right-handed pitching in 2018. The plan would be for Gallo to play center occasionally against right-handed pitchers. For leagues which use individual outfield spots, this would provide a boost in value for Gallo, but it also increases his risk of injury.--Ben Rolfe
