Eddie Butler Gets First Career Save Thursday
6 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Eddie Butler locked down the first save of his career Thursday. Butler came in to relieve Yovani Gallardo with the Rangers leading 13-5 in the sixth innings. Butler gave up three earned runs on five hits and no walks in 3 2/3 innings. Part of the reason Butler went so long in relief was to allow the Rangers bullpen to rest. However, it is also a way of the Rangers stretching him out in the hope he may be able to make some starts down the stretch. Butler is unlikely to get any more saves this season, but he may have fantasy value as a spot starter later in the year.
