7 years agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is optimistic that shortstop Didi Gregorius (heel) and catcher Gary Sanchez (groin) will return in time for the team's West Coast road trip that starts on Sept. 3 in Oakland. Sanchez was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored on Sunday for the Gulf Coast Yankees in his first rehab game, and he reported no issues with his groin strain. He's expected to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, and Boone said that Sanchez will spend most of the week there. Gregorius is scheduled to be seen by a team doctor on Monday and has said that his bruised left heel is "way better than it's supposed to be." Sanchez has been a huge fantasy disappointment, hitting just .188/.283/.416, although he does have 14 home runs and 42 RBI in 66 games. His return will push Austin Romine back to the backup role. Gregorius, on the other hand, has been great for fantasy owners and should remain stashed in all formats. His eventual return will push star rookie Gleyber Torres back to the keystone.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
