Week 14 Wide Receivers - Waiver Wire Pickups and Adds

Alright, let switch things up this week. We are headed into Week 14 and for most fantasy football owners, your league is starting the playoffs. Since you are reading this I am going to assume you have either made the playoffs and need some more help or you just love fantasy football columns that combine decent advice with a little humor. Well, you have found the right place.

Instead of going in depth on a few players, we are going to quick hit many options this week that you should keep your eye on. It’s playoff time, so which potential waiver wire addition has the best matchup for next week? That’s how we will be looking at this article moving forward.

Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one size fits all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster. Check here for a complete list of our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 14 for help at all the skill positions. As always, RotoBaller has you covered!

Week 14 Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Targets

Chris Godwin, TB - 46% owned

Believe it or not, Chris Godwin has fallen under 50% owned for the first time this season. An extremely popular player selected at the beginning of the season as a breakout candidate, Godwin started the season hot with four touchdowns in the first five weeks but has cooled with the constant switching at quarterback. Godwin had his first 100-yard game of the season in Week 10 against Washington but has otherwise been silent since Week 6. A huge Week 13 has put Godwin back on the map though with five receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. If DeSean Jackson will miss Week 14, Godwin has another great matchup against the New Orleans Saints who are giving up 30.79 points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. If he somehow crept back onto waivers in your league, move quickly.

Courtland Sutton, DEN - 49% owned

Fantasy owners were so excited for the Courtland Sutton breakout after Demaryius Thomas was traded to the Houston Texans, but it’s been the opposite of that so far. Sutton has yet to catch a touchdown or record a 100-yard game since that trade. Some owners have been holding out hope, but it appears quite a few abandoned ship as Sutton is now below 50% ownership. If you have been one who has held on, Sutton rewarded you in Week 13 with 85 yards on four receptions and tossed in a touchdown for a little extra. Now Sutton gets to face the San Francisco 49ers who gave up 43 points to the Seattle Seahawks last week and have given up 26.06 points per game to opposing wide receivers this year. Another name you will want to grab quickly this week.

Jordy Nelson, OAK - 30% owned

Maybe the Oakland Raiders do have some fantasy viable players? Jordy Nelson is sure giving it a shot after catching 10 passes for 97 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs this past weekend. Old man Nelson was coming off back to back games with one target and no receptions after piecing together this surprising performance. Will he have value moving forward though? The Raiders will have another contest against a high-powered offense in Week 14 as they play the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. The Steelers had allowed a league-low 10.78 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers over the last four weeks before the Los Angeles Chargers were able to touch them up on Sunday Night Football. We know the Raiders will have to throw a lot and we know the Raiders don’t have a ton of reliable weapons. If Nelson is healthy heading into Week 14, he could be worth an add in deeper leagues.

Zay Jones, BUF - 1% owned

I included Zay Jones in this article after his Week 2 performance, and I had some, well, let’s call them interesting reactions. Most of the fantasy football community has probably forgotten about Jones at this point and considering he plays for one of the more volatile teams in all of football, why would you need to remember him. I haven’t quite given up hope, and even though Josh Allen can be inconsistent at time, he has been good on the ground running the ball which opposing defenses have needed to account for. In two of his last three games, Jones has a touchdown and more than 60 yards receiving and may be Allen’s favorite target. He also may be Allen’s only target. Now the Bills will face the New York Jets who are giving up 26.03 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers and should be a fairly even matchup.

Curtis Samuel, CAR - 17% owned

Fantasy owners have been drawn to Curtis Samuel recently due to his touchdown upside after finding the end zone four time in four games, but in Week 13, Samuel also added the volume to his touchdown upside. Samuel had six catches on 11 targets for 88 yards, and even though he didn’t find the end zone, it appears Samuel is becoming one of Cam Newton’s favorite target. The Panthers have been struggling and will need to face Cleveland on the road in what should be a back and forth affair. The Browns are giving up 25.49 points per game to opposing wide receivers so feel free to fire up Samuel in deeper leagues if you can grab him off waivers.

Michael Gallup, DAL - 6% owned

Is it a coincidence that the Dallas Cowboys have been playing better football since the Amari Cooper trade? Cooper has made everyone on the team better from Dak Prescott to Ezekiel Elliott and now Michael Gallup. In the Cowboys big Week 13 win against the Saints, Gallup had five catches for 76 yards on seven targets. Gallup hasn’t been very good this year and even while Cooper has been on the team Gallup hasn’t improved much, but that could be changing now. The Cowboys will get Philadelphia at home in Week 14 which could be a favorable matchup. The Eagles are giving up 27.76 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season, the second most in the league.

Devante Parker, MIA - 10% owned

After a win against the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Dolphins continue to hand around in the AFC playoff picture. The Dolphins have had some issues on offense this season with injuries as they lost their starting quarterback for a stretch and now two wide receivers over the past several weeks. Even Danny Amendola was out for Week 13. This is giving DeVante Parker new life to step in and take over as the WR1 in Miami. Injuries and inconsistent play, outside of one game, have been the problem for Parker in 2018. It’s not too late though as Parker found the end zone for the first time this season and had 43 yards on four catches on Sunday. If Parker can stay on the field the rest of the season, there is still some hope. Even if it’s not much hope. Up next is a division game against the Patriots at home. Parker will be touchdown dependent in Week 14, but if he can find pay dirt, he could be a sneaky play.

Antonio Callaway, CLE - 13% owned

Another six targets on Sunday turned into 84 yards on three catches, and if Antonio Callaway could have held onto the football at the goal line, he would have had a touchdown as well. Callaway is still the deep threat and big play maker in Cleveland which will come in handy Week 14 during a potential shootout with the Carolina Panthers.

Dante Pettis, SF - 3% owned

Not only a guy I urged all of you to pick up last week, but a must-start against the Seattle Seahawks turned out to be an excellent call as well. After 129 yards on five catches and his second touchdown in as many weeks, Dante Pettis has settled into a prime role with the San Francisco 49ers. As much as I loved his matchup this past week, I hate it in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos. However, since Pettis is coming off a huge game, you should still add him this week and stash him on your bench.

Bruce Ellington, DET - 9% owned

Since Bruce Ellington signed with the Lions, he has racked up 24 targets in only three games. The volume is potentially going to be there, but the big yards and touchdowns probably will not follow. Ellington is for those of you only in PPR leagues and that are facing huge issues with injuries. We need to include Ellington though because of all the targets he is getting. If he starts to break those catches into larger gains, then we could have a much more interesting play on our hands.
