6 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid scored 31 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, blocked one shot and dished out three assists in Monday's victory over the Timberwolves. He was 10-for-17 from the field, 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. The 7-footer did most of his work in the first half, tallying 13 points in the opening quarter and 21 over the first 24 minutes. He now has 37 double-doubles on the season, which is one fewer than he accumulated all of last year in 63 games. His four triples tied a season high. The 24-year-old has put together a fantastic January so far, producing 29.4 points along with 13.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.4 blocks, 1.6 three-pointers, and 3.9 turnovers while shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 45.8 percent from beyond the arc and 81.0 percent from the charity stripe. Embiid and the Sixers will next face the Pacers on Thursday. The 24-year-old has turned out an average of 30 points,15.5 caroms and two blocks in two contests against Indiana this year.--Daniel Benjamin
