Elfrid Payton Records Fourth Consecutive Triple-Double
6 years agoNew Orleans Pelicans point guard Elfrid Payton made franchise history during Saturday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns, recording his fourth consecutive triple-double, the most any Pelicans player has reeled off. Now healthy, Payton has been able to put his unique arsenal on display, taking advantage of the pace that his squad plays at. Also allowing his increased workload is the absence of Jrue Holiday, which has put the ball in Payton’s hands the majority of the time. He set a career high with 16 assists Friday versus Portland, just to match that total again Saturday, finishing with 16 points, 16 assists and 13 rebounds across his 37 minutes. He’ll go for five in a row versus Dallas on Monday, having made himself a season-long fantasy x-factor down the stretch.
