6 years agoBoston Celtics point/shooting guard Marcus Smart and small/power forward Jayson Tatum both departed Sunday’s loss to the Orlando Magic early due to injuries. Smart reportedly sustained a strained oblique after logging 20 minutes, while Tatum is dealing with a left shin contusion after just six minutes of action. It seems unlikely that Boston would push for either to play in Tuesday’s regular-season finale versus Washington, with Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward standing to likely see increased playing time. The playoffs could open as soon as Saturday for the banged-up Smart and Tatum, both of whom are key to the Celtics NBA Finals aspirations.--Jesse Borek
