Anfernee Simons Drops 37 Points In First Career Start
6 years agoPortland Trail Blazers shooting guard Anfernee Simons entered the starting five for Wednesday’s win over the Sacramento Kings and delivered a dominant performance. Running the gamut for all 48 minutes, Simons was the focal point of the Portland offense, finishing 13-for-21 from the floor, including 7-for-11 from three-point range, en route to a 37-point effort. He also accounted for nine of the team’s 19 assists, adding six rebounds to a performance he’ll have difficulty topping at any point throughout the remainder of his career. After a de facto redshirt rookie campaign, Simons made his case for cracking into the rotation on a permanent basis come the postseason, which opens Sunday for Portland against Oklahoma City.
