Another 10 games for us on Thursday, with another interesting split. There are three afternoon games, five traditional evening slate games and then another two games out on the West Coast. As for the DFS slates this has been split into two, with the afternoon games on one slate and the remaining seven on the featured slate. The evening slate is where most of the winnings can be found and therefore we will focus on this slate below.
The biggest favorites on the evening slate are the LA Dodgers, but that is reflective of the price of Hyun-Jin Ryu. After that Carlos Carrasco and the Indians are the second biggest favorites and his performances this season mean he can be found at an interesting price. As for the total, the biggest line can be found in the Royals @ Rangers game. However, with Mike Minor pitching for the Rangers, the most exciting options are on the Rangers side, and their prices are generally reflective of the upside they offer.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/30/19. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Carlos Carrasco, CLE (@ CWS) - $9,500
It has been an up and down season for Carrasco, but the White Sox are a team he has had success against this season. In his previous two starts against the White Sox, one at home and one in Chicago, he has averaged 29.6 fantasy points. In those two games he did not give up a single earned run. while striking out 12 in 12 innings. He has the potential for double-digit strikeout performances on his day, and facing a team who rank in the bottom third in runs, home runs and slugging, he has a reasonably safe floor as well.
Martin Perez, MIN (@ TB) - $9,000
Perez is not a sexy pick but he offers the potential for simple solid production at a reasonable price. He does have the ability to return big scores, having scored over 30 fantasy points against the Astros and Blue Jays. Additionally, he is pitching in a park traditionally views as a pitchers park, against a team who rank 19th in home runs and 21st in runs scored. The consistency that the Rays hit with does limit the potential upside, but Perez feels a fairly safe fantasy option on this slate.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
Stats correct prior to the start of games on 05/29/19
C - Christian Vazquez, BOS (@ NYY) - $4,100
This is more than I like to pay for a catcher but Vazquez's numbers against left-handed pitchers are worth the price. So far this season, Vazquez has a .317 ISO, a .440 and a 178 wRC+ against lefties.
1B - Jay Bruce, SEA (vs. LAA) - $4,000
I was tempted to pick Peter Alonso here but his lineup with Hyun-Jin Ryu is not favorable at all. Instead Jay Bruce makes for a nice play with four home runs in 41 PA against left-handed pitchers, giving him a .361 ISO and a .350 wOBA.
2B - Jonathan Schoop, MIN (@ TB) - $3,800
Schoop has been sneakily good against right-handed pitchers this season. It is not a great matchup against up the impressive Charlie Morton, but has a .265 ISO and a .345 wOBA against righties.
3B - Mike Moustakas, MIL (@ PIT) - $4,800
Moustakas has been absolutely fantastic so far this season, with 13 home runs already. 10 of those home runs have come with right-handed pitchers on the mound, helping Moustakas to a .299 ISO and a .370 wOBA against righties.
SS - Tim Beckham, SEA (vs. LAA) - $3,600
Beckham is coming off the back of a home run in the final game of the series against the Rangers. He has also been hitting extremely well against left-handed pitchers, with a .244 ISO, .400 wOBA and 158 wRC+.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Jordan Luplow, CLE (@ CWS) - $4,100
Luplow against left-handed pitchers has become an extremely good play this season. All six of his home runs have come off lefties, and he has a .477 ISO and a .480 wOBA with a 201 wRC+.
J.D. Martinez, BOS (@ NYY) - $5,200
If you are going to pay up J.D. Martinez at any point, then against left-handed pitchers is the time to do it. Against lefties this year, Martinez has a .350 batting average, six home runs, a .500 ISO and a .510 wOBA in his 45 PA.
Domingo Santana, SEA (vs. LAA) - $4,200
This is not the safest option because Santana lacks consistency against left-handed pitchers. However, he already has three home runs in 51 PA, helping him out up a .277 ISO and a .340 wOBA.
