5 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi tossed six solid innings of one-run ball in Sunday's 12-2 win over the Detroit Tigers, striking out eight and walking just one in the contest. Odorizzi threw 70 of his 99 pitches for strikes, and the bottom-tier Tigers lineup couldn't get much of anything going against the resurgent pitcher. He improved to 9-2 on the year with a spectacular 1.92 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 78 strikeouts over 70 and 1/3 innings pitched. Odorizzi is an extreme fly-ball pitcher who has seemed to remedy his past home run issues (only four homers allowed), and he is clearly benefiting from the Twins league-leading offense. It's natural to remain skeptical of his rest-of-season output, but he looks like a brand-new pitcher this year and the numbers back it up. Continue to hold onto Odorizzi and start him in all formats, but keep an eye on his metrics as he's more than likely due for some regression.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
