James Paxton Allows Two Runs Over Six Innings
6 years agoAfter two rough starts to begin June, New York Yankees pitcher James Paxton got back on track Sunday with a solid outing against the White Sox. Paxton pitched six innings and allowed eight hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out seven. He is now 4-3 with a 3.93 ERA and 1.31 WHIP on the year. Paxton's barrel rate is down from 9.4% in 2018 to 7.4% this year, but his walk rate has increased from 6.5% in 2018 to 9.7% this year. Paxton is an excellent strikeout pitcher who has hovered around a 30% strikeout rate the past three years. He isn't as reliable and steady as the elite pitchers in the game but he should have more good than bad games going forward, so keep throwing him out there.
