Danny Duffy Allows Three Runs In Eight Innings
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy had his longest outing of the season on Saturday against the Twins. He pitched eight innings and allowed six hits, two walks and three earned runs while striking out four. The three runs came on three solo home runs by the Twins. Duffy earned a no decision on the game and is now 3-3 with a 4.48 ERA and 1.35 WHIP on the year. It's been an uneven year for Duffy so far. He really doesn't stand out enough anywhere to give you much confidence going forward. His ERA and WHIP are higher than you'd like to see for a pitcher with a low strikeout rate (19.7%) and a weak offense supporting him. He should be owned in AL-only leagues and most 14+ team leagues, but elsewhere he's fine to leave on waivers and target for spot starts in favorable matchups. His next start is a favorable one on the road against the Blue Jays on Friday.
