5 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Ariel Jurado cruised through Thursday's start against the Tigers, pitching seven innings and allowing six hits, one walk and no runs while striking out four. This was Jurado's longest outing of the year and his first time allowing fewer than two earned runs in a start. Jurado is now 5-3 with a 3.90 ERA and 1.34 WHIP on the year. While Jurado is a fine fill-in starter given the right matchup, like Thursday's favorable one against the Tigers, his 16.7% strikeout rate and 4.69 xFIP don't inspire a ton of confidence going forward. He should be owned in all 14+ leagues and AL-only leagues, but for more shallow leagues, he is fine to leave on waivers unless your team's desperate for pitching help. His next outing will be a home start against the Angels on Tuesday.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
