5 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Francisco Mejia is sidelined Sunday after he suffered a forearm contusion Saturday from a hit-by-pitch. Austin Hedges is starting behind the plate in the series finale against Miles Mikolas and the St. Louis Cardinals. Mejia has caught fire since returning from Triple-A on June 18 hitting .304 with two homers and six runs scored in eight games played. He struggled mightily early in limited at-bats, but has played more often since his call-up making him a viable starter in two-catcher leagues. Mejia should be considered day-to-day and could return as early as Monday when the Giants come to town for a three-game set.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
