5 years agoMinnesota Vikings rookie running back Alexander Mattison could offer some intriguing value in the late rounds of 2019 fantasy drafts, both for his handcuff status behind the oft-injured Dalvin Cook and for his standalone value in what looks to be a more balanced offense this season. Run-game-guru Gary Kubiak recently said that Mattison has "shown great maturity so far for a rookie" - praise that should not go unnoticed as Mattison looks to establish himself as the clear second option at the position. He profiles as a classic three-down back due to his receiving chops and durability, but there doesn't seem to be a specific part of his game that stands out as of yet. Mattison is being drafted 178th overall (RB58), and he appears to have more upside than the unexciting backs being drafted around him (Justice Hill, Jamaal Williams, Mike Davis, Chris Thompson, Jalen Richard, and Giovani Bernard). He's absolutely worth the dart throw late in the draft as a strong handcuff/RB4 with top-20 potential if anything were to happen to Cook.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
