Nate Pearson Dominant in Latest Triple-A Start
5 years agoToronto starting pitcher Nate Pearson continued shredding his way through the minors on Sunday, going six innings with seven strikeouts for the Buffalo Bison in his second start in Triple-A. The only damage done came in the second inning, when Pearson started off by allowing a single followed by a two-run home run by Boston's Bobby Dalbec. But the 23-year-old then locked it down, retiring 15 of the last 17 batters he faced, with the only two baserunners reaching via a hit pitch and a wild pitch on a strikeout of a rehabbing Michael Chavis. After the graduations of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette, Pearson is Toronto's top prospect but will be unlikely to see the majors in 2019. But for dynasty players, Pearson is one of the best assets in the minors, with an elite velocity that can be run into triple-digits, as well as a wipeout slider thrown in the high-80's.
