Alexander Mattison Efficient On Limited Touches
5 years agoMinnesota Vikings rookie running back Alexander Mattison had himself a nice NFL debut, rushing nine times for 49 yards (5.4 YPC) in the Vikings 28-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Mattison didn't see any targets, but his nine attempts were an encouraging sign as he operated as Dalvin Cook's backup in a game dominated by the Vikings rushing attack and defense. The Vikings registered 38 rushing attempts against just 10 passes in the contest, and it seems that the team will look to feature the run more often than not this season in an attempt to control the clock and time of possession. Mattison won't receive enough touches to offer standalone value in fantasy leagues while Dalvin Cook is the top back and looking more explosive than ever. However, he remains a high-priority handcuff for Cook owners and could continue to earn more touches as the season rolls along. He's not a recommended play in Week 2 on the road against the Green Bay Packers.
