Damian Lillard’s Incredible Fourth Quarter Aids 28-Point Effort
5 years agoPortland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard went for 18 points during the fourth quarter of Monday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs, with two prime opportunities to make it 21, but was unable to find the bottom of the bucket. Lillard got off two three-point attempts with less than 15 seconds to play, yet would have to settle for 28 points on 9-for-28 shooting overall. After scoring just three points in the first half, Lillard pulling together a stat line that also included nine rebounds, seven assists and two blocks was a minor miracle for fantasy owners. When a defense as stout as San Antonio’s doesn’t have an answer for Lillard down the stretch, there are likely better days ahead, namely Wednesday when Portland takes on Oklahoma City. It’ll be three games in four days for Lillard, but he should be in prime position to continue his early season scoring barrage.
