5 years agoNew York Knicks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. will be sidelined for Friday’s game versus the Phoenix Suns due to a strained left oblique. Smith’s absence marks his fourth straight contest out of the equation, paving the way for Elfrid Payton to continue seeing healthy minutes at the starting point guard slot. After some solid play last season when arriving in New York, Smith has averaged just 5.2 points over 16.1 minutes per game primarily as a reserve this season. His next chance at returning to action comes Sunday versus the Clippers, although he retains very little fantasy value at this time.--Jesse Borek
