D'Angelo Russell Fires Up 16 Threes, Flirts With Triple-Double
5 years agoGolden State Warriors point/shooting guard D'Angelo Russell has proven to not be bashful about firing up gaudy shot totals this season, with Monday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers serving as the latest example. Russell toyed with a triple-double across his 40 minutes, collecting 27 points on 9-for-27 shooting, including going 5-for-16 from behind the arc. He led the team with nine assists and snagged eight rebounds, which essentially cancelled out his six turnovers from a stat-sheet perspective. As has been the case for the vast majority of the year, Russell owns immense upside. Until Stephen Curry (hand) gets back in the mix, Russell remains the team’s unquestioned No. 1 scoring option, and his stat lines bear out the numbers that he can produce when he is aggressive.
