Eric Gordon Drops Career-High 50 Points In Epic Showing
5 years agoThe Houston Rockets were extremely short-handed Monday against the Utah Jazz. But little did they know that shooting guard/small forward Eric Gordon was merely waiting in the wings for an opportunity such as this one to deliver the best scoring performance of his 12-year career. Gordon saw an enormous offensive workload with James Harden (thigh), Russell Westbrook (rest) and Clint Capela (heel) all out of the equation, shooting 14-for-22 from the field overall, including 6-for-11 from three-point range. He set a new career high by going for 50 points, having only ever once in his career having previously hit the 40-point plateau (as a rookie in Jan. 2009). He would have logged even more shot attempts if he weren’t fouled so often; Gordon went 16-for-20 from the free-throw stripe in one of the more shocking single game efforts in the league in quite some time. He also added six rebounds, three assists and two steals across his 38 minutes. It goes without saying that if Harden isn’t able to return Wednesday against Portland, Gordon would be a solid source of scoring and should carry ample fantasy value.
