Gary Trent Jr. Ties A Season High With Six Made Threes
5 years agoPortland Trail Blazers guard Gary Trent Jr. came off the bench and was a much-needed boost for his team in a 125-117 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Trent Jr. took seven shots, all threes, and made six of them to tie a season-high in deep balls, and also chipped in four assists and one block in his 24 minutes on Thursday night. After averaging 13.2 minutes and 4.2 points over the first 29 games of the season, the sophomore guard has seen his averages climb to 27 minutes and 12.6 points over his last ten contests. With the Blazers fighting for all the wins they can get in a tight race for the final playoff spot in the West, Trent Jr. has shot his way into a meaningful role for Portland and be a useful one-category specialist in 14-team leagues down the stretch.
