Markieff Morris On Track To Sign With Lakers
5 years agoSmall/power forward Markieff Morris wasn’t a free agent for long following a contract buyout from the Detroit Pistons on Friday. While brother Marcus was dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Trade Deadline, Markieff plans to sign with the Lakers. Morris is likely to slot into a reserve forward role, forcing Kyle Kuzma into a tougher spot within the second unit. Morris averaged 11 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest across 44 games for Detroit this season, numbers that may be difficult to replicate if he can’t draw the 22.5 minutes he got on a nightly basis. For now, he is likely a deep league season-long option only, although how the team’s rotations shake out moving forward could pave the way for some additional interest.
