5 years agoPortland Trail Blazers center Hassan Whiteside kicked off the second half of the season as the league’s leading shot-blocker and only increased upon his lead during Friday’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. In addition to collecting his fifth straight double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, Whiteside swatted away six shots (or more) for the sixth time this season. His 16 shot attempts marked his most in an outing since Jan. 15 and with Damian Lillard (groin) on the shelf for the time being, Whiteside could have some added value over the coming weeks with additional shots coming his way.--Jesse Borek
