After an exciting NXT In Your House last Sunday, Backlash, one of the company's most tenured events, makes its return after a one-year hiatus. Emanating from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, the card features several exciting and compelling matches, including "The Rated-R Superstar" Edge taking on "The Viper" Randy Orton in what has been pre-ceremoniously declared as the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever."
Also, on the night, WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman will defend his title against the collective duo of John Morrison and The Miz. The WWE Championship will also be on the line as Drew McIntyre will be making another pay-per-view title defense against Bobby Lashey.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy WWE lineup picks for FanDuel for WWE Backlash on 6/14/20. WWE Backlash - DFS Lineup Picks
(C) Braun Strowman, $20 - vs. John Morisson and The Miz (WWE Universal Chamionship)
Strowman has performed well during pay-per-view bouts as of late. He racked up 13.3 fantasy points against Goldberg at Wrestlemania as a result of four power slams and a quick victory. He then took on Bray Wyatt, the non-fiend version, at Money in the Bank, resulting in another decisive win. He will now be tasked with going up against former Smackdown Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and the Miz, with the Universal Championship on the line. While anything is possible in today's WWE, chances are "The Monster Among Men" retains, with the potential for The Fiend to make his return to set things up for a match between the two sometime this summer. Then there is Otis, who is still in possession of the Money in the Bank briefcase, which could make things even more unpredictable.
(C) Asuka, $18 - vs. Nia Jax (WWE Raw Women's Championship)
After Becky Lynch relinquished the Raw Women's Championship after revealing her pregnancy to the world, Asuka was awarded the title by defeating five other ladies at Money in the Bank the night before "The Man" made her announcement. Jax has since emerged as the No. 1 contender, but after Charlotte beat Asuka on Monday night, we may be heading for a rematch between the two, which could take place at Summerslam in August. "The Empress of Tomorrow" has gained plenty of traction over the last few months, so she will likely walk out of Backlash with the gold still around her waist.
Jeff Hardy, $16 - vs. Sheamus
Hardy made his return from a lengthy knee injury back in March and has since been involved in a controversial storyline with Sheamus that integrated some of the former's historical problems with legal troubles and substance abuse issues. This story may be coming to an end on Sunday, so the logical conclusion here would be "The Charismatic Enigma" coming out on top, which would be a feel-good moment for the fans at home. With Mr. McMahon wanting to turn the focus of weekly programming back to established, tenured superstars, we could be seeing the beginning of a career resurrection for Hardy, especially since he appears to have turned his life around for the better.
(C) Apollo Crews, $15 - vs. Andrade (WWE United Stated Championship)
After spending a significant amount of time in the WWE doghouse, Crews appears to be back in the company's good graces--at least for now--after he defeated Andre for the U.S. title on the May 25th edition of Monday Night Raw. With the company's creative process in turmoil at the moment, Crews could fall back out of good graces relatively soon, so it wouldn't be a shocker if he wins at Backlash and lose the strap the following night when the company hits the proverbial "reset button" in favor of established superstars in order to reclaim some viewers moving ahead.
