Steven Matz Struggles Against Red Sox
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz struggled in the Mets 4-2 loss to the Red Sox on Thursday. Matz (0-1) went 5 1/3 innings pitched allowing eight hits, three earned runs, and two walks, while striking out only three. Although it was not a terrible outing, it was a far cry from Matz's season debut against Atlanta last Saturday. Against Atlanta, Matz struck out seven in six IP and only allowed two hits. If Matz can pitch more consistently and replicate his 2019 second half in which he struck out 75 in 79 1/3 IP and posted a 3.52 ERA and 1.20 WHIP, he will become a must own pitcher in mixed leagues. Matz is scheduled to face the Nationals in his next matchup where he will look to bounce back.
