Bo Bichette Lands On IL With Knee Sprain
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a sprained right knee. Bichette has emerged as an early-season MVP candidate after having posted a 1.717 OPS over his last seven contests. His absence will create a chasm at the top of the Toronto batting order, with Joe Panik likely to serve as the primary fill-in at shortstop, while Brandon Drury manned the position Sunday. Bichette’s Statcast metrics back his elite production thus far, with his xBA (.363), xSLG (.748), xwOBA (.465), and xwOBAcon (.551) ranking inside the top two percentile of all hitters in the Majors. He remains a top-end fantasy asset in all season-long leagues moving forward, but the injury doesn’t sound as if it will severely dent his playing time for the remainder of 2020.
